Chek is a reader for books and comics you already have. It has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and you don't need an account with us to use it.

On your device

Books you add, your library, your reading places and your settings stay on your iPhone or iPad. When you sign in to a server, Chek keeps the session the server gives back in your Keychain, on this device only. It never keeps your password.

Servers you connect

You can connect Chek to library servers, such as a Chek server you run. Chek talks only to the servers you add. It sends each one your name and password when you sign in, the kind of device you use, such as "iPhone", and your reading places in that server's publications. Whoever runs that server decides what it keeps, so check with them. Chek never sends anything about one server to another, or to us.

If you follow a series, Chek checks your servers for new chapters in the background a few times a day and tells you with a notification on your device. Notifications aren't sent through us.

The demo

"Try the Demo" opens demo.chek.page, a sample library of public-domain and Creative Commons books and comics. No server of ours runs it: Cloudflare serves the books, and keeps its usual request logs. Everyone trying the demo in the app shares one account, which keeps no reading places and shows you nobody else's. The demo on the web keeps your reading places in your browser only, and we never see them. Exiting the demo, or closing Chek, removes everything the demo kept on your device.

This website

chek.page uses no cookies and no analytics. Cloudflare serves it and keeps its usual request logs.

Deleting your data

Removing a server in Chek's Settings deletes its sign-in and everything you downloaded from it on your device. Deleting the app deletes everything Chek kept. For data on a server you connect, ask whoever runs it. For anything about the demo or this policy, write to support@chek.page.

Children

Chek doesn't knowingly collect anything from anyone, children included.
